Tehran's interim Friday Prayers Leader, Ayatollah Seyed Ahmad Khatami, has castigated the US and Europe for taking advantage of the developments in Libya.

Referring to recent uprisings in Islamic countries, Ayatollah Khatami said the Libyan people were bombarded by the Libyan ruler Muammar Gaddafi's forces for thirty days before the very eyes of the US and Europe. But, the US and Europe did not enter the scene. Meanwhile, their recent military interference has taken place solely for fulfillment of their own interests.

The military interference of the US and its Western allies continues in Libya, while the informed sources in this country say that during these attacks at least 114 people, including a significant number of civilians, have been killed and 445 others have been wounded.

Tehran interim Friday Prayer leader also slammed the muted reaction of the US and other so-called supporters of human rights in regard to suppression of popular protests in a number of Middle Eastern countries, including Bahrain.

The Bahraini security forces have largely suppressed the anti-governmental demonstrations, martyring at least 25 people.

The Manama administration has also recruited Saudi, Kuwaiti, and UAE troopers for suppression of protesters.
