Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei said Monday that Iranian nation have made the enemy acknowledge Iran's achievements in science and technology thanks to the opportunity created by the Islamic Revolution.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a meeting with hundreds of enthusiastic people from Kordestan province.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution recalled his previous visit to Kordestan province and appreciated the warm welcome and sincerity of the people during his stay in the province.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that people of Kordestan province have always remained committed to the Islamic Revolution and has disappointed the enemies at various junctures.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Iranian nation have established progress in the international community to the extent that the enemies have admitted several times.

IR Leader said that from the early stages of the Islamic Revolution, the enemies did what they could to suppress the revolution but to no avail as the vigilant Iranians powerfully thwarted their plots.

Elsewhere in his speech, Ayatollah Khamenei appreciated the hard work of people of Kordestan province to help implement the government's development projects and said that the great Iranian nation attained significant success and development in various sectors.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution said each province in the country should play its significant role in the country's development and Kordestan province is not an exception.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the people of Kordestan province are loyal to the Islamic Revolution and have thwarted all conspiracies.

Hazrate Fatemeh Zahra (SA) the Leader of the Women of the Worlds, the only Daughter of the Messenger of Allah Muhammad (PBUH) and the Mother of the Leaders of Youth of Paradise: Imam Hassan (AS) and Imam Hussein (AS).

Hazrate Fatemeh Zahra (AS) completely resembled the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and Hazrate Muhammad (PBUH) considered her the part and parcel of his life, and used to say repeatedly, "Fatemeh (AS) is a piece of me, who troubles her has troubled me, and who pleases her has pleased me."

Hazrate Fatemeh Zahra (SA) was martyred at the age of 18 years on 13th Jamadi al-Awwal or 3rd Jamadi al-Thani in the 11th year of Hijrah only 75 or 95 days after the heavenly departure of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH).

On this deeply grieved and sorrowful mourning occasion, we extend our heartfelt deepest grief and condolences to all the followers and lovers of the Holy Ahlul Bayt (AS) in the world.

Progeny

According to the consensus available in history, Allah the Almighty had bestowed Hazrate Zahra (SA) with five children.

Imam Hassan (AS) who was born on the 15th Ramadan, 3 A.H. and was martyred on 28th Safar, 50 A.H. Imam Hussein (AS) who was born on the 3rd Sha'baan, 4 A.H. and was martyred on 10th Muharram, 61 A.H. Zainab who was born in the 5th or 6th year after Hejri and expired on 14th Rajab, 73 A.H.

Umm al-Kulsoom who was born in the 8th year after Hejri and according to a narration, she expired after four months and ten days on her return from Karbala- (Bahr al-Masaaeb).

Mohsen who was martyred due to the oppression of the merciless tyrants while he was still in the womb of his holy mother. He was named by the Messenger of Allah (PBUH).

Services to religion

Included in the services rendered to Allah's religion by Hazrate Zahra (SA) are all those relations due to which Islam was initiated or even survived.

If one analyses Islamic history, he will realize that the respected father of Hazrate Zahra (SA) was the cause of Islam's advent in this world.

It spread on account of the struggles of her husband Hazrate Ali Ibn Abi Taleb (AS) and survived only because of the sacrifices of her two sons, Hassan and Hussein (AS).

This is amply evidence that whenever she served her father, husband or sons in any manner, she was actually serving her relations; rather she was serving the religion of Allah the Almighty.

'When a son, after bearing a world of difficulties, returns to his benevolent mother, he gains a great degree of relief. The presence of Fatemeh (SA) provides me with similar comfort and relaxation.

When I return home after facing the scorching heat of calamities and passing through the travails of Jihad, the very presence of Fatemeh (AS) provides me considerable satisfaction and becomes the cause of fresh courage and determination. The same applied for Ali (AS).

When she cleaned his sword, it was not a service rendered to a husband, rather it was a duty to Islam.

The proof of this statement is in the fact that no woman, as a wife, would like her husband to go to a battle unequipped and apparently, the only fate that lied ahead was death, nothing else.

But not once did Zahra (SA) utter that let the other Muslims also go to fight or at least think about the future of the Messenger of Allah's daughter without you. This also displayed her enthusiasm for sacrifice and the zeal for the propagation of religion.

Certainly, none can imagine a higher service rendered to religion than that by Hazrate Zahra (SA).

More than anything else was the fact that right on day one of the birth of her younger son, Imam Hussein (AS), she was informed about his martyrdom on the day of Ashura at Karbala.

Yet, she left no stone unturned in his training nor did she request her father to pray to the Almighty to dispel this calamity and that her son be saved.

From spending the entire wealth of her mother, Hazrate Khadijah (AS), till the sacrifice of her sons, Hassan and Hussein (AS), and from Karbala till Sham, the family of Hazrate Zahra (AS) is the symbol of the reality that none in the universe, male or female, has rendered more service to Islam than her.

Hazrate Fatemeh Zahra (SA) sacrificed her entire household in the way of Allah. One can also find instances of her direct participation in wars.

For example, she treated the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) in the battle of Uhud when he was injured. She also served the corpse of Hazrate Hamzah (AS) in the same battle.

Mention has also been made of her providing food to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) in the battle of Khandaq.

In his last moments, the head of Allah's Messenger (PBUH) was in the lap of his daughter and he also breathed his last in front of his benevolent daughter. This also shows the strong bondage existent between father and daughter.

Just as Hazrate Zahra (SA) had opened her eyes in this material world in the arms of her father, he too departed in her lap.

Martyrdom

Under the pressure of the aforementioned calamities, Hazrate Zahra (SA) became unwell quite often. According to Allama Majlisi (a.r.), she became constantly sick sixty days after the martyrdom of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH). After fifteen days of unabated illness, she expired on the 13rd Jamaadi al-Awwal 11 A.H.

The following is the full text of the speech delivered on April 27, 2011 by Ayatollah Khamenei the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution to thousands of laborers from across the country.

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

I would like to welcome the dear brothers and sisters who are active in the arenas of labor. This is an opportunity for me. Each year I get an opportunity to sit down with you dear laborers and make a few comments.

Labor and the position of laborers are very important issues from Islamic and rational perspectives. If we consider the issue from a rational perspective, labor is an essential link in the chain of our vital needs. That is to say, if a society had all the money in the world but lacked the element of labor, it would not be possible to address the needs of the people of that society. What addresses the needs of human beings is the element of labor. And labor depends on laborers. Therefore, the capable hands and creative minds of laborers play an obviously important role in the life of human beings - both their individual life and their social life. Those who ignore the working class and labor communities are in fact ignoring this essential role. And the same is true about the people who think of laborers as an instrument, just like other instruments. This is the rational perspective, and the logic is totally sound.

But the logic of Islam is superior to this rational perspective. According to Islam, the work that laborers do to feed themselves and their family is a kind of worship and good deed. That is to say, the work that laborers do is not limited to this world, rather Allah the Exalted has attached great importance to the issue of labor in His comprehensive plan for the life of humanity in this world and in the hereafter. The Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) said, "This hand will not feel hell fire." When the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) kissed the hand of a laborer, everybody was surprised. Then the Holy Prophet said, "This hand will not feel hell fire." That is to say, when we engage in midnight prayers, recite the Holy Quran and rely on Allah the Exalted, we are in fact building walls between ourselves and hell fire. And when we work, we do the same thing. This is a very important point. This is the Islamic view.

Now let us discuss labor communities. I will only discuss what is related to our country, especially what concerns the Revolution and the revolutionary activities. First of all, our laborers played an important role in helping the uprising of the Iranian nation achieve victory. If the labor community - particularly those who worked for the oil industry and other strategic places - had not stepped in, the Revolution would have faced serious problems. Afterwards, the Sacred Defense happened. Before the Sacred Defense Era and during the early years of the Revolution, we were faced with other issues. Many of you dear youth were not present then, or you were too young to remember the events. I was witness to these events. Our laborers and labor community played a role. I was present in one of the factories close to Tehran on the 22nd and 23rd of Bahman. I was among the laborers of that factory, and I saw how the leftist elements of that time - namely, the communists and their followers - were seeking to start a so-called "labor movement" from somewhere and turn the Islamic Revolution into a communist and Marxist revolution. This was what they were doing in Tehran. It was our laborers who stood up against them. Of course that factory did not have more than 100 laborers, but they wanted to use that factory as a stepping-stone. I went there, and the laborers showed a tendency towards religion. They did not even know me. I was just an ordinary seminarian. But they realized that the voice of religion was familiar to them and that the voice of anti-religion elements was unfamiliar. The voice of anti-religion elements was unacceptable to them. I wish some of those laborers could tell us about the events that happened during the three or four days that I used to go to that factory. I used to stay there for hours. It was an important experience for the country. This was how the laborers played a role. That is to say, those who wanted to pitch the labor community against Islam and the Islamic Republic were totally disappointed by our laborers. This has always been the case over the past years. Later on the eight-year Sacred Defense happened, and our laborers participated massively in the war. After the war, our laborers were present in the arena of labor.

There was an interesting line in the song performed by the dear brothers: "The arena of labor is a battlefield for us." This is a fact. Proud and honorable Iranian laborers consider their labor as a battle. Your labor is a kind of battle against the people who want to plunge the country in economic decline and failure. Our honorable labor community should know that their serious and innovative labor is a battle. You are fighting the world of arrogance through your labor. Everybody should pay attention to this point.

Thankfully the general atmosphere of our country is imbued with sincerity, love and brotherhood among laborers and their employers. This is not to say that there are no people who want to oppress our laborers. This is not to say that the needs and rights of our labors are never ignored. Such things happen. But the policy of the Islamic Republic and its officials and the general orientation of the Islamic Republic is to create solidarity, cooperation and friendship among all those who are involved in labor - namely, laborers, their employers and government officials. The points that were mentioned by the honorable Minister of Labor and Social Affairs are important points. Some of the things he spoke about have already been done, and the rest should be done as quickly as possible through persistence and patience. We should try to help our working class become an advantaged social class.


This year is "The Year of Economic Jihad". Economic jihad refers to an essential point regarding the management of the country: today the enemy has focused on our economy in order to counter Islam and the Islamic Republic. This is not to say that they have forgotten other areas. No, they are doing whatever they can in the cultural, security, political and all other areas against the Islamic Republic. Their failure does not mean that they do not put much effort into it. They are doing their best. However, their main focus is on economic issues. Their purpose is to separate the people from the government. They want to create a rift between the people and the Islamic Republic. They are after creating economic problems for the country. Therefore, economic jihad is necessary. Economic jihad means that we should continue this battle, but we should do so with the spirit of jihad, with all our power and with pure intentions. And we should know what we are doing. This is the meaning of "The Year of Economic Jihad". By Allah's favor, we will make a quantum leap if the economic sectors of the country are committed to this jihad in all governmental and private organizations. And all our people will share the success.

I advise our working class to fulfill their responsibilities well. I have repeatedly quoted this hadith from the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.): "God bless those who do their duty well."

We must make efforts to produce high-quality products so that Iranian and non-Iranian consumers come to believe that our domestic products are enduring, well-designed and beautiful. This is the goal that our labor community and production managers should strive towards. Of course there are certain requirements that have to be met. It may be necessary to arrange training courses, and this is the responsibility of governmental organizations. But the goal should be producing high-quality products. When Iranian laborers use their innovation, taste and skill, what they produce is interesting and attractive.

The works produced by Iranians in the past are the result of combining art and skill, and the same is true today. This is tangible and obvious. Whenever Iranian art is utilized, the final product turns out to be interesting and timeless. Fortunately many of our domestic products are already better than similar foreign products. And some of our products are far better than foreign products: they are more beautiful, more enduring and more interesting. We should try to achieve this quality in all our domestic products, including foodstuff, everyday products, clothing and ornamental products. We should take this into consideration in all our products, and we can do so. Our labor community, our designers, our engineers, our investors and our laborers can do this. This must be our aspiration: producing enduring, beautiful and high-quality products. This is a large-scale task.

Consuming domestic products is a point which I would like to address to all our people. Dependence on foreign products is one of the serious social problems which is rooted in the era of taghut. There was a time when we did not have many domestic products or our domestic products were not good enough for consumption. This is not the case today. Our domestic products are high-quality today. This is while there are some people who love to say that their clothes and foodstuff have foreign brand names on them. This is a kind of disease, and it is necessary to cure it. This shows that they do not care about the fact they are living in this country and that they are benefiting from the divine blessings which have been bestowed on this country. So they channel the money has been earned inside the country into the pockets of foreign laborers, money that should go into the pockets of our domestic laborers. This means that we are ignoring the needs of our domestic laborers who are making efforts and producing goods for us. This means that we prefer foreign laborers to our domestic laborers. This is a very bad habit.

I believe one way in which our people can engage in economic jihad is to decide to consume domestic products. Of course the other side of the issue is that the quality of our domestic products should be acceptable. The durability and quality of our domestic products should be acceptable to our consumers. Both of these things are necessary.


Of course there many issues which should be seriously pursued by our government officials regarding "The Year of Economic Jihad". The issue of employment is very important. Creating job opportunities is very important. Paying attention to the economic infrastructures of the country - which have been investigated and worked out by our experts - is very important. Industry, agriculture and different issues related to these areas are very important. All these things are essential. Engaging in any of these areas is an instance of jihad in the way of God.

One can see that the blessings which have been bestowed on this country are so many that the obstacles will be removed one after the other and the nation will move forward. This progress is the destiny of our nation, and the efforts made by the enemies are futile. They are just provoking further divine wrath and causing further material and spiritual loss for themselves. Their efforts will not get them anywhere.

Today arrogant, oppressive and anti-human organizations - and organizations which have been disgraced in the world - have deployed their forces against the Islamic Republic in the hope that they will manage to deal a blow to this symbol of Islamic and human honor and glory. They were hoping to prevent the Iranian nation from becoming an inspirational role model for other nations. They are trying their best, but their efforts will prove futile. They wanted to isolate the Iranian nation, but what happened was the opposite. They arranged many trips to this region and they held many meetings with corrupt individuals in the region, hoping that they will manage to isolate Iran. After the impressive popular uprisings in the region, thankfully the Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic are the focus of attention in the region. The Iranian nation and the Islamic Republic are now respected more than ever before, and this is exactly the opposite of what they wanted.

The US government, which is among the top governments that are accused of having acted against humanity and human rights, wanted to take action to isolate the Islamic Republic. The US President delivered a speech in Egypt last year. Addressing the world of Islam with words which he though were precious, he tried to attract hearts and restore the respect which America had lost in the region. What was the result? Today nations of the region hate the US government more than any other government.

That is the way of the world. If a nation moves towards divine goals keeping God in mind, Allah the Exalted will assist it. Thankfully, today our nation is such a nation. Our government officials and our people are making efforts. They are working hard. In our country people make efforts to achieve divine goals. Therefore, Allah the Exalted helps us.

On the other hand, there are people who work against God's servants, God's path and divine goals. They will have a bad destiny. They may be successful for a short time, but their initial success will not get them anywhere. The result is what our opponents and enemies and the arrogant powers can see. By Allah's grace, the future of this region will be far better than its current situation. Thanks to the determination of nations and their efforts to tread the path of Islam, God will bestow far more blessings on the people of the region.

We should ask Allah the Exalted to help us treas this path of success. We should pray to God to help us pursue this path and this purity in continuing our movement. By Allah's favor, we will benefit from the favors of the Imam of the Age (may our souls be sacrificed for his sake). I hope Allah the Exalted will bestow His mercy and blessings on our dear martyrs and the honorable laborers who have been martyred. I hope God will associate all of them and the immaculate soul of our magnanimous Imam (r.a.) with His friends in the hereafter.

The following is the full text of the speech delivered on April 23, 2011 by Ayatollah Khamenei the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution to thousands of ordinary citizens from Fars province.

I would like to welcome the dear brothers and sisters who have traveled here from Fars province. Through your important slogans and through your presence in this meeting, you truly revived the memory of the great bravery of the people of Fars province and Shiraz. The people of Fars province have demonstrated valor on numerous occasions in contemporary times and in the recent past.

To be fair, Fars province and Shiraz are among the most prominent places in our country - in terms of distinguished manpower, in terms of knowledge, in terms of literary works, in terms of different kinds of progress in the arena of social life, in terms of political activities, in terms of jihad and in terms of piety. The name of Shiraz figured prominently in the most sensitive and vital social events of the pre-Revolution era. For example, regarding the historic tobacco fatwa, which was the beginning of a popular and conscious battle against the hegemony of the west, Mirza Reza Shirazi was a prominent figure. If the politicians and elites of our country had followed the path of Mirza Reza Shirazi, the destiny of Iran would have been different. But colonialists stepped in and put an end to his movement by taking advantage of the unawareness and greed of certain people. Similarly, the name of Shiraz figured prominently when the people of Iraq put up a fight against English colonialism and interference. The leader of this movement was Mirza Mohammad Taqi Shirazi who is also known as the second Mirza Shirazi. He was a great man. He was a religious scholar and a marja taqlid. There were prominent figures in Fars province during the constitutional movement, during the political activities which led to the victory of the Islamic Revolution and during and after the Revolution. This is about the issue of jihad. "Surely jihad is one of the doors of Paradise, which Allah has opened for His chief friends". The issue of jihad is not an unimportant issue. It is the door to Paradise, and not everybody is allowed in. Only God's friends are allowed to enter Paradise. This shows that our selfless people are among God's friends, and this is why the door to Paradise has been opened up for them.

The same is true of science. Shiraz has been a pioneer in the scientific movement during the post-Revolution era, especially during the recent years. Regarding political and social issues - which are difficult and confusing - the people of Shiraz are considered among the most vigilant and insightful people in the country. Sometimes political events get so complicated that they become confusing. But we see that our people are vigilant. In particular, the honorable people of Fars province are among the pioneers.

A prominent point about Fars province, especially Shiraz, is that the satanic Pahlavi regime selected a few places as centers for promoting deviation from ethical values and religious spirituality. Shiraz was one of those places. They decided to make use of the poetic and artistic spirit which is prevalent among the people of this province. Fars province and Shiraz are the center of literature. Fars province is the center of poetry and different kinds of art, and this shows the characteristics of the people of this province. The people of Fars province appreciate and produce art. The satanic Pahlavi regime decided to make use of these characteristics. They decided to make Fars province the center of spreading corruption. The people disappointed them. See how much the people pay attention to Imam Musa ar-Ridha's (a.s.) shrine and the shrines of his brothers. Compare this attention with the past and see how much more the people respect and pay attention to these shrines. That is to say, the path that the people followed is exactly the opposite of the Pahlavi regime's policies. They are still following the same path, and they will do so in the future as well. This is why I express respect for the people of Fars province and Shiraz.

Fars province offered 14,600 martyrs to the Revolution, and five thousands of these martyrs were from the city of Shiraz. This is a big number. When we say that one person was martyred, it means that tens of people entered the arena and made selfless efforts. It means that tens of people laid down their lives, and only one of them was martyred. You can now see what 14,600 means. It means that the entire Fars province showed enthusiasm and love for self-sacrifice.

I have no intention of praising the people of Shiraz or the honorable people of our country. You neither need my praise, nor do you expect me to praise you. So why am I saying these things? Because contrary to the enemy's wishes, I want the history and identity of our nation to become clear for today's and tomorrow's friends and enemies. This is because the enemies' propaganda is pursuing the opposite of this. A nation's determination to insist on its righteous goals - which are important for its life in this world and the next - is the key to that nation's progress. This is exactly the opposite of the goal pursued by wealthy, bullying and powerful people in the world who want to spread their hegemony over nations of the world and enslave human beings across the world. The only way in which a nation can counter this goal is to select a righteous goal and to pursue it in a determined way. This determination will help the nation achieve its goal, and this nation becomes a role model for the people who are watching it - just as the Iranian nation became a role model. Global analyses of the regional issues suggest the same thing. They are saying that Iran has become a role model. They are saying that the Iranian nation has turned into a role model for the people of the region. They are worried that what happened in Iran will happen in the region as well. They are worried that the flag of Islam may be raised in the region as well and that governments may be established on the basis of Islam. This is the characteristic of resistance.

Considering the characteristics which I pointed out about the people of Fars province, one cannot praise the great Iranian nation too much. No amount of praise is an exaggeration. There has been a battle throughout history, a battle between nations of the world and a few greedy, power-thirsty, wealthy and arrogant people. This battle has been continuing throughout history. Arrogant people have always had weapons, money and a loud voice. And there are certain things that they have traditionally lacked. They have been completely merciless and unfair. They have been prepared to give rise to great tragedies and crimes in order to reach their goals. On the other hand, nations of the world only had their life, determination and faith to rely on. Whenever nations have made use of these great tools and resisted, the opposing camp has been defeated. But nations have not always been steadfast. They have not always resisted. They have not always made the best of their life, determination and faith, but whenever they have, they have managed to make progress.

This battle is still continuing today. The arrogant powers of the world - namely, western powers, America and the Zionists - would never stop. They want to spread their hegemony over the entire world and the entire financial resources of the world. They want to dominate all human resources. What have nations done wrong to deserve this? Why should nations of the world tolerate their hegemony? Unfortunately these things have become realities. They select people who are like them and put them in charge of nations of the world in order to protect their interests and work against the interests of nations and pressure them as much as they can. This has happened throughout the world in different forms during the past 200 years - since the beginning of colonialism. The problem that nations of the world have been suffering from during this period is not the existence of dictators. Their problem is that dictators receive support from global powers. It is global powers that have been trampling on the rights of nations. This is the problem with the era of colonialism. It is possible to analyze all these issues appropriately if we look at them from this prospective. The same is true of today's issues.

Thanks to Islam, the Islamic Revolution and widespread Islamic Awaking, today certain events are happening in the region. There is no doubt that this public awakening will produce results, just as they have in certain parts of the region. The more the people of region preserve their determination and their preparedness for self-sacrifice, the more the probability of their victory will be. This is exactly what the arrogant powers, America and the Zionists do not want to happen. They do not want people to resist. America was surprised by the regional developments. It received an unexpected blow. The same is true of the Zionists and the self-righteous European colonialists. They were all surprised. But they are trying to take control of the situation in one way or another. Of course they have been unsuccessful so far. They failed completely in a couple of countries, and they are struggling in a couple of other countries. Definitely this awakening will not stop. This progressive movement of the people is irrevocable. Whatever they do, this movement will achieve results which will benefit nations and harm the global powers. Of course nations of the region should stay vigilant. They should know that the enemy is lying in ambush.

In certain cases, they clearly oppress nations. Regarding the issue of Bahrain, Libya and Yemen, all those who can sit in judgment would recognize western powers as the obvious criminal and culprit if they just paid careful attention. These western powers are oppressing the people in those countries. Analyzing these issues is up to political analysts, and they say the same thing in their analyses. The general conclusion is that today America, the west and others are pressuring and oppressing the people in favor of the Zionists and the fake Israeli government. Unfortunately the people of Bahrain have been oppressed more than other nations.

Because the Islamic Republic adopts righteous positions and announces them clearly, they focus all their propaganda attacks on the Islamic Republic. They want the Islamic Republic to be an indifferent bystander. Such a thing is not possible, and this is not the nature of the Islamic Republic. It is clear that neither the nation, nor government officials, nor political elites can be an indifferent bystander in this oppressive conflict, which has been imposed on the people by the arrogant powers. So they say that Iran is interfering in the internal affairs of those countries. What interference? How did Iran interfere in the internal affairs of Bahrain, Libya and Yemen? Yes, we expressed our view in a clear way. We were never intimidated by the frown of the so-called powers of the world. We did not pay attention to their frown, and we never will.

We announce our righteous position in a clear way. The righteous position is that the people of Bahrain have the right to protest. You can discuss this with any insightful person in the world. Explain their situation to him. Explain the way the oppressed Bahraini people are being governed. Explain what the rulers did to take advantage of this small country. Then see if they condemn the ruling system or not. They are making a mistake: confronting the people is useless. You may pressure the people violently and manage to put down the uprising for a short time, but the uprising will not die out. You will further infuriate the people on a daily basis. One day you will lose control of the situation, and it will be impossible for you to set things right. They are making a mistake. Both the Bahraini government and those who send forces to Bahrain are making a serious mistake. They think they can annihilate a popular movement through these things. This is what the Islamic Republic wants to say. The same is true of Yemen and Libya. Westerners are playing a game with the people of Libya. Libya is a country which is close to Europe and is full of oil. They do not want a populist government, especially a populist Islamic government, to come to power in Libya. So they just play a game with the people. The people of Libya understand this. And the same is true of other places as well.

The main criminal in these events is undoubtedly the arrogant powers of the world, the international system of arrogance and the international Zionist network, and today the Zionists are taking advantage of the recent events. They pressure the people of Gaza and kill them on a daily basis. The regional nations and governments and those who love the truth should not ignore the activities of the Zionist regime.

This is the situation of the Islamic Republic of Iran. As a result, you see that the propaganda and the political, economic and security actions of the US and its allies are focused on the Islamic Republic. Of course the Islamic Republic is standing firm, but they do not spare any malevolence. They have not backed down. The strength of the Islamic Republic has made their sword blunt. Their sword has hit the rock. I would like to urge our honorable nation and government to preserve this rock-solid position. Do not allow discord to be created. Do not allow a rift to be formed. Do not let the enemy achieve what he is seeking through its political malevolence and propaganda.

Notice what uproar they caused in the world in the past 5, 6 days over an issue which was not very important - the issue related to the Ministry of Intelligence. Their analyses started to promote the idea that there is a rift in the structure of the Islamic Republic, that the leadership of the country is divided and that the President did not listen to the Leader. They used their propaganda machines to seriously promote these baseless things. Notice how desperately they are looking for a pretext. Notice how they are lying in ambush like a wolf, looking for a pretext to attack the Islamic Republic in whatever way they can. They know that the government is busy making efforts and rendering services. Genuine services are being rendered in the country. Whenever a service is rendered somewhere, both the Leader and the people will support it. Our judgment is not based on individuals. Our criterion is the work that is done and the path that is selected. Wherever the people and I see hard work and services, we support them. Thankfully today efforts are being made. Our government officials - the President and his cabinet members - are making genuine efforts. They work day and night. I see how active they are. They are constantly making efforts and rendering services to the people. These things are very valuable to the country. According to the principles, I do not want to interfere in the actions and decisions of the administration. The responsibilities have been specified in the Constitution. Each government official has a particular responsibility. I step in only when I feel a national interest is being ignored, which was the case regarding the recent issue. Sometimes I feel that an important national interest is being ignored, so I step in to prevent this. This is not a particularly important issue because similar things happen. But the opponents, our foreign enemies and those who own international media outlets and propaganda machines use this issue to create uproar through their propaganda.

My advice to the domestic elements, those who care about the country and the brothers and sisters inside the country who deal with issues related to foreign propaganda is that they should not fan the flames of this uproar. Why is it necessary to analyze these things and to present arguments and counter-arguments? Thankfully the Islamic Republic is a powerful system. Government officials are doing their job. By Allah's grace, this humble person who has the responsibility of leadership is standing firm on his correct positions. As long as I am alive and as long as I have this responsibility, I will not allow the slightest deviation in the great movement of the Iranian nation towards the ideals. As long as our honorable people are present on the scene with wisdom, insight and strong determination, God will bestow His blessings on us. As long as we are present on the scene, we will benefit from divine blessings. If we go after our personal interests and forget the goals, divine assistance will definitely decrease.

But fortunately you see today that the people are present on the scene in every part of the country. The same is true about our government officials and the three branches of the government. The executive, legislative and judiciary branches of the government are truly present on the scene. I personally see their involvement. They are making serious efforts. They are working very hard. Their responsibilities are very heavy.

This year I raised the subject of economic jihad. The determined efforts of our government officials have given rise to a great movement. Both our people and our government officials should join hands and start this economic jihad this year. As I said, the slogans that I select for each year are meant to initiate a continuing movement. The slogans are not meant to be practiced only for one year. Thankfully these things are being done. We all have our own flaws. I have my own flaws, and the heads of the three branches of the government have their own flaws. Our honorable government officials are not perfect. We should take refuge in Allah the Exalted. We should identify our flaws and try to reduce them. We should not put obstacles in the way of the impressive movement by our great nation.

I pray to Allah the Exalted to continue bestowing His kind blessings on our nation. I hope God will make the holy heart of the Imam of the Age (a.s.) kind to us, and I hope God will help us benefit from his prayers. I pray to Allah the Exalted to bestow the highest positions on our dear martyrs and our magnanimous Imam who initiated this movement.

Tehran's interim Friday prayer leader Hojjat-ol-Eslam Kazem Seddiqi referred to popular uprisings in the region and said:

"The breeze that is blowing in the region is the breeze of life and nations have gained strength."

"In Egypt and Tunisia, we have more hope in the paths that are chosen," he added.

"These revolutions are the extension of Ruhollah (Imam Khomeni)'s revolution and will cross all borders gradually," Hojjat-ol-Eslam Seddiqi stressed.

"Islamic nations, one by one, show their life, glory and zeal; and European nations who have been humiliated for years under the rein of governments dependant to America will eventually rise and have demands to compensate for these humiliations," he continued.

Tehran's interim Friday prayer leader underlined that Islam is the religion of humanity, freedom and glory that will soon prevail in all over the world.

Hojjat-ol-Eslam Seddiqi regretted the meddling of Western forces in Libya, saying: "These forces have turned the war into an erosive war in order to weaken the nation so that a weak government would come to power and they would receive the most tribute."

"Western forces are against freedom and in favor of dictators," he added.

"In Yemen too, the presence of millions of people has left no way for Ali Abdollah Saleh except to quit, but the longer he stays, the more blood is shed and crimes are committed," Tehran's interim Friday prayer leader said.

Referring to the situation in Bahrain, Hojjat-ol-Eslam Seddiqi added: "Our hearts are wounded by what is happening in Bahrain and these crimes can not be tolerated."

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei said the vigilance movements now underway in west of Asia and northern Africa are a continuation of the grand movement of the Iranian nation.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks on Wednesday morning while receiving thousands of teachers from all over the country who were meeting with him on the occasion of the national Teachers Week.

Islamic Revolution Leader stressed that such movements would undoubtedly continue to the very heart of Europe to awaken and inspire the European nations against their politicians and statesmen who are utterly in service of US and Zionist cultural and economic schemes.

Emphasizing that such an awakening in Europe was nothing to avoid, Leader of the Islamic Revolution noted that continuation of vigilance movements of this kind in due speed and strength demanded that resisting, faithful, insightful and knowledgeable people are raised and educated.

Ayatollah Khamenei further pointed to the very basic mission of teachers in the Islamic system which is to educate and bring up human beings in accordance with the ideals and values of the Islamic Republic and said that fulfilling such a task called for adopting an independent and advanced Iranian-Islamic paradigm.

May 2 is Teachers' Day in Iran. It is also the anniversary of the assassination of the great philosopher and politician Ayatollah Morteza Motahari.

Ayatollah Morteza Motahari who was born in 1299 in Fariman, Khorasan Razavi Province was an Iranian scholar, Alim, university lecturer, and politician.

Martyr Ayatollah Motahari is one of distinguished figures in the Muslim world whose outstanding personality has earned him an everlasting place in the Islamic history.

He is considered among the important influences on the ideologies of "Islamic Republic".

Motahari's character had basically been formed by his father, the process which was done in his childhood and later he took the advantage of the other professors and teacher.

Ayatollah Ol-Ozma Haj Aqa Hossein Borojerdy, Ayatollah Mirza Ali Aqa Shirazi who was a pious scholar of Isfahan, Allameh Sayyed Mohammad Hosein Tabatabaee and Ayatollah Ol- Ozma Imam Khomeini were among his outstanding professors who had influenced his character.

Professor Motahari did his best to form the Muslim and combatant forces so that he could keep the pure policy of the revolution and the associated leadership.

Professor Mottahhari was arrested several times by Savak (the now-defunct Pahlavi regime) for his revealing speeches along with 50 outstanding Tehran's Alims.

Professor Motaharri’s activities in“ Hosseiniyeh Ershad”, “ Masjed (mosque) Javid” and “ Masjed Aljavad (the important mosques) were his climax of cultural activities between 1963- 19 71 (1342 – 1350).

In 1969 (1348) and at the time of the savage attacks of the Zionist regime on the Arabic countries and the outbreak of a 6-day war between the Israelis and the Arabs, he accompanied by the Late Allameh Tabatabaee and “ Ayatollah Haj. Abolfazl Moosavi Zanjani through release of a statement, invited people to supply the Palestinian Muslims with the necessary aid.

During 1971-76 (1350-55) which was influenced by the severe strangulation of the ruling regime, the revolutionary centers were closed one after the other.

Professor Motahharri began to form secret gatherings in Tehran and Qom. His audience was students of universities and scholars. He aimed to promote resistance, help the families of Muslim political detainees and author books on guidance of the young generation.

He played an important role in unifying the two classes of the students of the universities and the Alims to the extent that his speeches and sessions, served to be a threatening factor for the ousted regime.

Before the victory of the revolution, especially in the second half of 1978 which he had very heavy responsibilities, he did not neglect the task of promulgating the revolutionary Islamic culture.

The awareness of young generation was an important aim of professor Motahari and he has written so many books for them, including “Dastan-e Rastan” which received award from UNESCO in 1965.

Motahari has also written many books on Islam, Iran, and historical topics. He did mostly work on giving lectures about Islam rather than writing books. However, after his death, some of his students worked on writing these lectures and manage them in order to publish them as books.

Finally this man who was a prominent scholar and symbol of resistance, and the combatant who would never give up became martyred by a fanatic, extremist group "Forqan" at 22:30, April 30, 1979 (Ordibehesht 11, 1358).

The founder of Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini said about him:

"… Although his life was too short, he had left us with an invaluable heritage, which was a shining part of a clear conscience and a soul full of love toward the Islamic ideology.

He started to teach and educate the people in the society through his skills in writing, and the powerful thought on the analysis of the Islamic issues and explanation of the philosophical facts, according to common people's style without any sign of unrest.

His written and oral works are all informative and can guide the people's spirits. His positions and pieces of advice which originally came from his heart was full of true belief and Islamic ideology suits the mystic as well as the common people."
