Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei hailed the seizure of the embassy of America by Iranian students in 1979.

Addressing thousands of students in the Iranian capital of Tehran on Wednesday, Ayatollah Khamenei said the move represented the bravery of the young and revolutionary generation of Iran.

The Islamic Revolution Leader added that the seizure of the US embassy rocked the America and brought Washington to its knees.

Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the sedition following the 2009 presidential election in Iran and said the plot was thwarted thanks to the effective presence of Iranian youths in the arena.

Ayatollah Khamenei termed faith along with insight as the essence of the seizure of the embassy of America by Iranian students in 1979 and said the late Imam Khomeini's call was originated from religious sense and public support of the Iranian nation which led to the victory of the Islamic Revolution fourteen years later.

"The event was the symbol of the presence of Iranian youths in the arena," Islamic Revolution Leader said.

"The little group which shouted slogans against the move last year sought to revive the American hegemony and hide the hegemonic tendency of America but they failed," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Islamic Revolution Leader added that the sedition of the last year was a big one and it will be revealed in the future that how dangerous conspiracy was behind that.

Ayatollah Khamenei noted that the main preparators of the sedition were seeking to seize Iran.

Ayatollah Khamenei also spoke of the US claims that it wants a friendly relationship with Iran and said such talks are soft on the surface but in fact are an iron hand inside a velvet glove.
