Eid al-Fitr begins on Friday in Iran according to a statement issued by the office of the Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei.

According to the statement, accredited moon observers deployed across the country have happened to observe the first slivers of the new moon as herald of the next lunar month of Shawal and the coming of the auspicious Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.

Ayatollah Khamenei will lead the landmark Eid al-Fitr prayers ceremonies early morning on Friday in the campus of Tehran University.
