'IRI presence in Int'l waters will repel dangers'
7/29/2011 4:00:03 PM
Friday prayers leader of Tehran Hojjatoleslam Kazem Seddiqi says presence of Iranian naval fleet in international waters will repel dangers.
"Though free international waters are general, presence of foreign naval fleets may raise dangers for the country; so, presence of domestic naval fleets will repel the dangers," said Hojjatoleslam Seddiqi in his second Friday prayers sermon in this week's Friday prayers congregation at Tehran University campus.
He then pointed to the plot of Mossad and arrogant powers to confront technological advances of Iran, while referring to their soft and hard wars. Assassination of Iranian scientists marks a dark stain for enemies.
The country will continue progress and gain more achievements day by day and the killing of its scientists will not halt the movement as was testified during the eight-year (1980-88) of The imposed war on Iran (by former Iraqi regime), said Hojjatoleslam Seddiqi.
"War will bring enemies disgrace and humiliation, earning the country prosperity."
Also referring to mischievous acts of Pejak group in Kurdistan Province, Hojjatoleslam Seddiqi said the blind people want to make the region insecure, thus disrupting delegation of services.
Of course, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) have heroically managed to destroy their base, he added.

Navy's robust presence shows national dignity
Navy's robust presence shows national dignity
2011/07/23 - 23:31
Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei told a large gathering of Iranian naval forces and their families in Bandar Abbas, southern Iran Saturday night that the robust presence of the naval forces on the Persian Gulf and Sea of Oman's coasts helps demonstrate the national dignity of the Iranian nation and the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic.
In the meeting staged in the IRGC commanding center, Ayatollah Khamenei said the enemies were bent on undermining the Iranian national sovereignty and that the nation, particularly the authorities, political groups and people from different sects must keep their national unity and avoid any differences.
Ayatollah Khamenei then pointed to the presence of naval forces over the high seas and said the strategic presence gives a message of dignity for other nations as it shows that the Iranian nation, albeit facing a massive enemy front and enduring sheer obscurity, has managed to accomplish the current extent of ability by reliance on self and trust in God.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the strategic presence was in service of humanity as the Iranian nation proved through standing by its original principles that the path of national dignity never faces a dead end and that any other nation can get dignity, power and wealth if it wills.
Ayatollah Khamenei then touched on different enemy schemes to frustrate the nations and undermine their national resolve, namely spread of narcotics and provocation of internal schism, adding that all Iranian people are nowadays called by the holy Koranic verse that "And hold fast to the rope of Allah, all of you together, and do not be divided" (3:103).
Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the great Islamic Revolution of Iran and the resolve of the Iranian nation in the past 33 years despite any pressures and conspiracies by the world arrogance, adding that the sole path of the regional nations to salvation was to tread the track of the Iranian nation and that the effects and fruits of such a resolve had started to emerge.
Ayatollah Khamenei then bemoaned a fake enemy propaganda against Islam and the Iranian nation and an attempt on the part of the enemies to distort the realities on the ground. "An example of such western propaganda came recently after a criminal act in a northern European country in which they leveled the finger at Muslims from the early minutes; the issue proves the western propaganda is malicious and fake," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
"Such accusations and propaganda would never affect the Iranian nation or other Muslim nations," Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding that the prosperity and salvation of the Iranian nation in this world and afterlife could only be achieved under an Islamic framework and that the progressive movement of the Islamic System has so far helped revive Islam and the resolve of the regional nations.

"The long and vast seashore of the region is now under the control of an independent and glorious nation which is aware of its power and national intention and relying on God will force back any political and military power".
Ayatollah Khamenei added that the region of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman has presently become a “free and independent region thanks to the powerful presence of Iranian forces".
IR Leader stressed that the “time is over when arrogant powers used to determine the destiny of other nations through military presence".
"Even if some of the regional governments are still inclined to obey the orders of the arrogant powers, regional nations have awakened and become alert, and consider the foreigners' military presence as the cause of insecurity in the region," Leader of the Islamic Revolution added.
"The days of hegemonic powers which determine the fate of other nations by imposing their military might has come to an end," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that Iranians have not, so far, encouraged and would not do so in the future any nation to fight or enter any confrontation.

Supreme Leader’s Speech to Teachers and Graduates of Mahdaviat
Supreme Leader’s Speech to Teachers and Graduates of Mahdaviat
09/07/2011
The following is the full text of the speech delivered on July 9, 2011 by Ayatollah Khamenei the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in a meeting with teachers and graduates of Mahdaviat [faith in the re-appearance of the last Shia Imam, Imam Mahdi (a.s.)].
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
First of all, I would like to thank all the brothers and sisters who are working on different areas - including daily prayers, zakat, exegesis, Mahdaviat and all the other areas that Mr. Qara'ati spoke about. All these areas are important and necessary. By Allah's favor, working on these areas is indeed a genuine charitable act that will be accepted by Allah the Exalted. I would also like to thank everybody who has attended this meeting, especially Mr. Qara'ati. We cannot really thank them because their efforts are for the sake of God and hopefully God will reward them for their efforts, but we should also appreciate their work. Now I would like to make a few points in the company of you dear brothers and sisters.
Mr. Qara'ati is an exemplary person. First of all, the issues that he followed up were among the shortcomings that existed in the country. He filled the gaps and his efforts are very valuable. There are certain things that are very good to do, but they are not new and have already been done. If somebody manages to identify the needs and tries to fill the gaps, his efforts are highly valuable. This is how Mr. Qara'ati has acted. If daily prayers - which are extremely important as the pillar of Islam and without which other good deeds will not be accepted by God - are ignored in society or if people fail to pay enough attention to daily prayers, a massive void will be created. Mr. Qara'ati tried to eliminate this void. Zakat was not really discussed in our society and the fact that it used to be sidelined was a weakness and a shortcoming. But he stepped into the arena and made determined efforts. He went to different places, spoke to different people, urged everybody to take action and worked tirelessly until he managed to address this problem. The same is true of exegesis, Mahdaviat and the other areas that he is following up. This is one of the points that I wanted to raise about the work of our esteemed Mr. Qara'ati.
The second point, which is even more important than the first point, is related to his sincerity. This sincerity has enabled him to go ahead and solve the problems. Allah the Exalted supports pure intentions. Purity of intention has an extraordinary effect on the success of what you want to do. And this is another point which is very important.
I am not saying these things to praise Mr. Qara'ati or exaggerate what he has done. He neither needs nor expects such things and I am not the kind of person to do these things. I just want his efforts to be a model for all of us, especially for our seminarians. We should act the way Mr. Qara'ati acts. This is not to say that we should do the same things that he is doing. No, we should look for the gaps and try to identify the needs. Everybody should use his talent, capability and capacity to identify the gaps and the needs. This is the first point.
The second point is related to persistence. I would like to use this opportunity to ask Mr. Qara'ati and his colleagues to make sure to follow up what they have started. They should follow up their activities. We should not start something only to feel satisfied as soon as the first outcomes appear and then thank God and give up trying. No, we should follow up what we have started. I hope Allah the Exalted will help Mr. Qara'ati and all you dear brothers and sisters. I hope God will bestow health and a long life on all of you so that you can follow up what you have started. These are important points.
These days are close to the birthday anniversary of Imam Mahdi (a.s.), which is a great Eid for the Muslim world and even all of humanity. Therefore, it is appropriate to discuss the issue of Mahdaviat. I would say that Mahdaviat is among the main religious issues. It is comparable to prophethood: this is the kind of importance that we should attach to the issue of Mahdaviat. Why? Because Mahdaviat represents what all prophets were sent for - namely, building a monotheistic world on the basis of justice using all the capacities that Allah the Exalted has bestowed on humanity. This is the era that will come after the re-appearance of Imam Mahdi (God's greetings be upon him and may God hasten his re-appearance): the era in which monotheism and genuine spirituality will be dominant over the entire life of human beings, the era in which justice will be established in the real sense of the word. Well, this was what prophets were sent for.
I have repeatedly said that the movement carried out over many centuries by humanity in the shade of the teachings of divine prophets is a movement towards the wide road which will be built after the re-appearance of Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his re-appearance), the road that will lead humanity to lofty goals. It is as if a group of people are guided by certain people through mountains, valleys, marshes and thorny bushes in order to reach the main road. When they reach the main road, the rest of the way will be easy. The straight path will be clearly marked out. It will be easy to move ahead. When they reach the main road, they will not stop moving ahead. No, when they reach the main road, they will start their movement towards lofty divine goals because human beings enjoy an inexhaustible capacity. Humanity has moved through difficult paths and has cleared various obstacles in order to reach this main road. This main road is the road that will be built after the re-appearance of the Imam of the Age (a.s.). It is the world that will be built after the re-appearance of Imam Mahdi (a.s.). In a sense, the movement of humanity will start from that point.
If Mahdaviat did not exist, it would mean that all the efforts by divine prophets, all prophetic missions and all the strenuous efforts of divine prophets were futile. Therefore, the issue of Mahdaviat is an essential issue. It is one of the central divine teachings. For this reason, as far as I know, in all divine religions there are teachings which are essentially the same as Mahdaviat. But these teachings have been distorted and blurred over time and it is not clear what they are trying to say.
The issue of Mahdaviat is among the undeniable Islamic realities. That is to say, Mahdaviat is not limited to Shia Islam. All Islamic denominations accept that the end of the world will come when Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his re-appearance) establishes ultimate justice in the world. There are valid narrations by the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) and Islamic luminaries in different denominations of Islam. Therefore, there is no doubt in this regard. However, Shia Islam has an advantage among other denominations because the issue of Mahdaviat is not an ambiguous issue in Shia Islam. The issue of Mahdaviat is not a convoluted and unintelligible issue in Shia Islam. It is clear. Mahdaviat has a representative and we are familiar with this representative. We know his characteristics. We know his ancestors. We know his family. We know when he was born. We know the details. And this familiarity is not based on Shia narrations alone. There are non-Shia narrations that clarify the details for us. Followers of other Islamic denominations should pay careful attention in order to understand this clear truth. This is the kind of importance that should be attached to the issue of Mahdaviat and we are better qualified to work on this issue. It is necessary to carry out scholarly and accurate work in this regard.
The issue of waiting [for the re-appearance of Imam Mahdi (a.s.)] is an integral part of Mahdaviat. It is one of the key concepts for understanding religion and the general movement of the Islamic Ummah towards the lofty goals of Islam. Waiting means expecting an event that will definitely happen. This is the meaning of waiting. Waiting means that this future is definite. This is especially true if we are waiting for a being who is completely ready. This is a very important issue. We are not waiting for somebody who has not been born yet. No, we are waiting for somebody who exists and is present among us. There are certain narrations according to which people can see him, but they do not recognize him. In certain narrations he has been likened to Prophet Joseph whose brothers used to see him. He was present among his brothers and he used to sit beside them, but they could not recognize him. It is such a clear and motivating truth. This facilitates waiting. Humanity needs this waiting and the Islamic Ummah needs it even more. This waiting puts responsibilities on the shoulders of human beings.
When a person is sure that there is such a future, he must expect it and be prepared for it. As the Holy Quran says, "And certainly We wrote in the Book after the reminder that (as for) the land, My righteous servants shall inherit it. Most surely in this is a message to people who are devout." Those who worship God can understand this message. Waiting requires that we prepare ourselves. We should know that a great event will happen and we should always expect this event. We can never say that the event will not happen in a few years and we can never say that the event will happen in the near future. We should always wait for it. Those who are waiting should get closer to the characteristics that will be expected in the era that is being awaited. This is the requirement for waiting. If there is supposed to be justice, truth, monotheism, purity and worship in the era which we are awaiting, then as the people who are waiting, we should get closer to these things. We should become familiar with justice. We should prepare ourselves for justice. We should prepare ourselves for accepting the truth. These are the requirements of waiting.
One of the things that the essence of waiting requires is that we should not be satisfied with the status quo and with the level of progress we have made so far. The requirement is to make efforts to increase our progress and spiritual characteristics on a daily basis. These are the requirements of waiting.
As Mr. Qara'ati said in his report, thankfully there are certain people who are doing scholarly work on the issue of waiting. It is necessary to pay careful attention to scholarly and accurate work on the issue of waiting and on the era after the re-appearance of Imam Mahdi (a.s.). It is also necessary to clearly avoid unscholarly and ignorant work in this regard. Unscholarly and ignorant work - the kind of work that is not based on knowledge and valid documents and sources about the Imam of the Age (may God hasten his re-appearance) - is among the things that can be highly dangerous and it can prepare the ground for false claimants. Unscholarly and undocumented work that is based on fantasies and illusions, rather than valid sources and documents, pushes people away from the state of waiting and prepares the ground for false claimants. It is necessary to seriously avoid such things.
There have been false claimants throughout history. As was mentioned in this meeting, certain claimants try to make a sign apply to themselves or other people. All these things are wrong. Some of the things that are said about the signs of Imam Mahdi's (a.s.) re-appearance are not definite and they have not been mentioned in valid and documented narrations either. They are based on narrations that are not solid and we cannot rely on them. Moreover, it is not easy to apply the narrations that are valid. There have always been certain people who have tried to apply the poems of Shah Nimatullah Wali to different people in different centuries and I have seen some of these people. His descriptions have been applied to a particular person and after a century or so the same descriptions have been applied to another person. These things are wrong and misleading. When there is deviation, the truth will be sidelined and it will be a tool to mislead people. Therefore, it is necessary to seriously avoid unscholarly work and surrendering to rumors. Scholarly, firm and documented work is something that experts should do. Such work cannot be done by everybody and it is up to experts on hadith, rijal and philosophy. Only such experts can step in and do scholarly work in this regard. It is necessary to take this issue as seriously as possible so that the path is opened up for ordinary people. The more hearts become familiar with the issue of Mahdaviat and the more we feel the presence of Imam Mahdi (a.s.) among ourselves and increase our relationship with him, the better it will be for our world and for our progress towards the goals.
Some of the duas that we have are very valuable and in certain cases they are good documents. It is very good to ask Imam Mahdi (a.s.) to act as our intercessor. It is very good to pay attention to him and to get close to him. This closeness does not mean that those who claim to meet or speak to Imam Mahdi (a.s.) in person are right. Not at all. The majority of the claims that are made in this regard are either lies or illusions. I have seen such people. Some of them were not liars: they were just suffering from illusions and they spoke about their illusions as if they were the truth. We must not surrender to such people. The right way is the logical way. Tawwasul [seeking spiritual intercession and connection] to Imam Mahdi (a.s.) is done from a distance. Imam Mahdi (a.s.) listens to our tawwasul and by Allah's favor, he will fulfill them. The fact that we address him from a distance does not really matter. Allah the Exalted conveys greetings and messages to Imam Mahdi (a.s.). This tawwasul and this spiritual closeness are very good and necessary.
I hope Allah the Exalted will hasten the re-appearance of Imam Mahdi (a.s.). I hope we will be among his followers both when he is in occultation and when he re-appears. By Allah's favor, we will be among the soldiers who will fight alongside Imam Mahdi (a.s.) and I hope we will be martyred for his cause.
Greetings be upon you and Allah's mercy and blessings

Imam Mahdi, the savior of mankind
Imam Mahdi, the savior of mankind
7/16/2011 4:04:51 PM
Shaaban 15th (16, July) marks the birth anniversary of the Shii Imam, Hazrt Mahdi (AS), the twelfth and last Imam of Hazrat Mohammad's (PBUH) infallible household.
Happiness dominates the day as faithful followers of Imam Mahdi celebrate his birth anniversary.
On the joyous occasion, ceremonies are held across Iran and people seized every opportunity to share their happiness while praying for his reappearance to fulfill his divine mission.
Also, muslims around the world mark the birth anniversary of the ultimate saviour of makind.
Imam Mahdi (AS) was born in 868 AD and was hidden by God at the age of five. He is still alive but has been in occultation, waiting for the time that God has decreed for his reappearance.
Mahdi belongs to the House of Hazrate Mohammad (PBUH) and would be in the line of Imam Hossein (PBUH). His name would be Mohammad and his family name would be Abul Qasim, his father's name would be Abdullah, and he would appear in Mecca. He would protect the oppressed from destruction and would restore the religion to its original position.
Shia believes that Imam Mahdi (PBUH) will fill the world with justice and fairness at a time when the world is filled with oppression.
In a tradition Imam Baqir (AS) says: The Master of the Command was named as Mahdi because he will dig out the Torah and other heavenly books from the cave in Antioch. He will judge among the people of the Torah according to the Torah; among the people of the Gospel according to the Gospel; among the people of the Psalms in accordance with the Psalms; among the people of the Qur'an in accordance with the Qur'an.
A saying by Imam Jaffar Sadiq (AS) is: Knowledge is divided into twenty-seven parts. No more than two parts has been acquired by human beings so far. When Mahdi arises he will expose the rest of the twenty five parts and distribute it among the people.
The story of birth of Imam Mahdi is like that of the Moses. All the women were being regularly inspected by female specialists of Abbasids to find out if anybody is pregnant. The Imam Mahdi's mother did not have any sign of pregnancy to the last hours, similar to Moses's mother. But no doubt that what Allah wishes will certainly take place.
Given these adverse conditions and hardships, the birth of the Imam (AS) was kept in utmost secrecy, that even the closest people to Imam al-Askari (AS), the father of the Mahdi (AS), did not know of the time of his (AS) birth. Only very few close associates were notified. The obvious contention is that the birth of al-Imam al-Mahdi (AS) constitutes a direct threat to the continuance of the corrupt government to rule.
Awaiting the Divine Savior On the 15th Sha'ban, Muslims celebrate the auspicious birth anniversary of the 12th Imam, Hazrat Mahdi (AS) and we extend our heartfelt greetings to all Muslims and the oppressed people of the world on this blessed occasion.
Human experience cannot deny the fact that it is every man's innate ideal to witness a time in which truth will overcome falsehood and justice will prevail in human society.
Based on these Traditions, all Muslims unanimously believe that the Savior will reappear one day to establish a unique world order, based on justice and truth, in which everyone will enjoy the benefits of divine law and order. However, the date and time of his awaited arrival are known only to Allah.
During the period of Imam Mahdi’s (AS) occultation, all believers are expected to await his coming. No believer should lose hope in this divine and Prophetic promise and this awaiting is certainly not in vain. The waiting, however, is not passive - it is a faith, full of dynamism and is like waiting to enjoy the fruits of one's labor.
It calls for sincerity, hard-work and preparation instead of lethargy and despair, in accordance with all the other universal laws that call for due action before expectation of results. Thus, it is incumbent on all believers to struggle earnestly to pave the way for the arrival of Imam Mahdi (AS) and the establishment of the rule of justice that will materialize with his re-appearance.
It is everyone's duty to endeavor tirelessly on the path of eradicating oppression and fighting evil because only then will one be considered as truly having awaited the auspicious arrival.
In the words of Imam Al-Mahdi (AS): "Indeed my existence is an amnesty for the people of the earth. Pray much to Almighty Allah to hasten the Relief (al-Faraj), for therein also lies the release from your sufferings."
Shining smile of the dawn, from the east, appeared; Dark color of the night, from the face of sky, disappeared.
In the eyes of Narjes (mother of Imam Mahdi), as he watched,
A wonderful light of eagerness, he found.
That wonderful light in her pure eyes,
From opening of a blossom, he knew that it was.
Together with the golden kisses of the morning sun,
In the garden of Samera opened that blossom.
Stones and the woods for one moment, from that birth,
Became hearts and started to beat, all over the earth.
Like a tree blooming in a garden that is dead,
Hope blossomed in the hearts of the oppressed.
Like the smell of flowers, you are not seen, O' Mahdi!
Please come back, come back please, O' Mahdi!

IRI ready to foil enemies' plots
IRI ready to foil enemies' plots
7/16/2011 8:35:19 AM
Addressing large groups of Tehrani Friday prayers worshipers at Tehran University campus as pre-sermon lecturer, Hojjatoleslam Moslehi said Intelligence Ministry has on its agenda identification and foiling all plots and conspiracies of enemies in cultural, economic and social fields.
He said his ministry covers wide scope of missions and activities, confronting all plots and conspiracies of enemy.
Elsewhere in his address, Hojjatoleslam Moslehi referred to the offensive approach taken by his ministry over the past two years, pointing to swift reaction of the country’s intelligence institutions to internal and external threats and plots.
Referring to the 2009 `sedition’, the minister said, “As official in charge of the country’s intelligence, I should announce that the 2009 Sedition has not yet been finished. The sedition movement is still in efforts to harm the Islamic establishment.”
Pointing to enemy plots to divide the Islamic Republic establishment of Iran, Hojjatoleslam Moslehi said, “Based on the latest information available, the most important and pivotal plan of the intelligence services of the US, the UK, and Mosad, the sedition movement, the anti-revolutionaries and the toppling trend is creating rift and dispersion domestically and fanning false tensions inside the establishment. Today, division and split is the common goal of whole enemies of the establishment, including the US, the UK, the Zionist regime, the MKO, the anti-revolutionaries and even the sedition movement; they have reached agreement to topple the Islamic establishment and have got close to each other in an unprecedented way. The way to thwart the conspiracies of enemies is following the Leader of the Islamic Revolution (Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei) as axis of unity in the Iranian society.”
He then hailed the Islamic Revolution of Iran as a model for both the region and the world of Islam as well as the entire humanity.
In other segment of his speech, the minister pointed to his ministry’s success to arrest Rigi, a terrorist group leader, and said it marks a big victory for the Islamic Republic establishment. “The preparedness of the Islamic Republic armed forces was other message of Rigi’s arrest. The country’s military organ managed to do the big job within less than half an hour. That was a big success.”
Also touching on arrest of the agent behind martyrdom of Iranian scientist Ali Mohammadi, the minister said the arrest also marked a big success on part of Iranian intelligence forces against Mosad.
“The person was arrested under conditions when Mosad removed anybody involved in designing its plots.”
Reacting to the US President Barack Obama’s anti-Iranian 'Internet in a Suitcase' project, the minister said his ministry was aware of the project one month ago and successfully designed ways to counter it.
Iranian Intelligence Ministry’s success in the cyberspace and internet fields has turned enemy helpless, making it to acknowledge that it has not been able to use the cyber network to harm Iran.
He then referred to the Intelligence Ministry’s success to infiltrate into enemy’s intelligence organs that act unanimously against Iran’s Islamic establishment.
“Recent poll results posted on foreign websites also reveal wide-scale concerns over Iranian intelligence system’s infiltration into the camp of anti-revolutionaries overseas.”
He said deadly blow has been dealt on foreign intelligence networks, including those of the US, the UK and the Zionist regime.
Also on failure of the intelligence services of the US, the UK and the Zionist regime in connection of Egyptian people’s uprising, Hojjatoleslam Moslehi said the services announced they were shocked by the Egyptian and Tunisian people’s movement, failing to predict them.
"Despite its claims and close ties with Egypt, the Zionist regime’s intelligence service fell short of predicting revolution of the country’s people," he added.
“Regional people took Islamic Revolution as a model, while the US and the West want to use awakening and vigilance of regional people in their own favor; so we should be alert and have special attention to the issue.”

Supreme Leader's Speech to Participants of 20th International Quran Competitions
Supreme Leader's Speech to Participants of 20th International Quran Competitions
13/07/2011
The following is the full text of the speech delivered on July 5, 2011 by Ayatollah Khamenei the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution to participants of the 28th International Quran Competitions in Tehran.
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
All praise belongs to Allah and greetings be upon Muhammad and his immaculate household.
I am very happy that Allah the Exalted let me live one more year and gave me another opportunity to attend this pleasant and enjoyable Quranic recitation. I enjoyed the way the dear brothers recited the Holy Quran. I ask Allah the Exalted to associate all these dear people and all of us with the Holy Quran in the hereafter. I also ask Allah the Exalted to associate all of us with the Holy Quran in this world as well. I ask Him to let us live and breathe the Holy Quran in this world and to let the Holy Quran be our intercessor in the hereafter. This is our wish.
These international competitions show everybody that the Holy Quran is a unifying factor, the source of unity. We Muslims enjoy a lot of unifying factors. One of these factors, and perhaps the most important factor, is the Holy Quran. All Muslim nations are humble before the Holy Quran. They want to learn lessons from the Holy Quran. They want to get closer to it. This is a very important opportunity. The enemies of Islam and the Holy Quran have tried to create a rift among Muslim nations. They have tried to divide them. Sometimes they have made an attempt to pitch them against each other, creating enmity between Muslim nations. This is the result of lack of attention to the Holy Quran. Considering the fact that all Muslim nations accept this heavenly Book - this heavenly Message, this great divine gift - is there any other means of unity which is better than the Holy Quran? All of us should benefit from this spiritual blessing. All of us should make use of this source of divine and Islamic dignity and power.
There are two things that we have ignored. One is the fact that the Holy Quran is the means of Muslim unity. The second is faith in Quranic concepts and the promises that have been made in the Holy Quran. We should have faith in divine promises. If we have faith in God's promises, then the path to dignity, unity and power will be opened up before the Islamic Ummah. The Islamic Ummah will be saved from backwardness. One example is the verses which were recited in this meeting by the honorable Egyptian qari: "If Allah assists you, then there is none that can overcome you, and if He forsakes you, who is there then that can assist you after Him?" [The Holy Quran, 3: 160] If God does not assist you, who will? These are brilliant verses. Muslim nations should wave them as a flag and put them up in front of their eyes. "If Allah assists you, then there is none that can overcome you." What should we do to make God assist us? This is one issue. What should we do to benefit from God's assistance?
The Holy Quran tells us how to do this. "O you who believe, if you help (the cause of) Allah, He will help you and make firm your feet." [The Holy Quran, 47: 7] "And surely Allah will help him who helps His cause." [The Holy Quran, 22: 40] If you help God and His religion and if you rise up for the sake of God, He will assist you. Wherever nations rose up for the sake of God's religion, wherever they made use of all their power, Allah the Exalted helped them. And whenever God helped them, nobody could defeat them. We ourselves saw an example of this. We have practical experience in this regard. "Surely Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change their own condition." [The Holy Quran, 13: 11] The Iranian nation tested this verse in action. We made some change and Allah the Exalted changed our situation. What is surprising is that if we take one step forward, God will take ten steps for us. We changed ourselves a little and God helped us a lot and changed our situation.
Today we see the same thing in the world. Take a look at the Egyptian nation. It was shouts of "Allahu Akbar". It was Friday prayers and Islamic slogans. They stepped into the arena and Allah the Exalted helped them. America did not want these things to happen in Egypt. The evil Zionist front, which has influence over all western powers, did not want this to happen. Their political allies in the region were not prepared to think of the possibility that such a thing might happen. But it happened. Why? Because "If Allah assists you, then there is none that can overcome you." If God helps, all material powers will be ineffective. This is how nations should restore their dignity. "And to Allah belongs the might and to His Messenger and to the believers." [The Holy Quran, 63: 8] Dignity belongs to God. "You exalt whoever You please and abase whoever You please." [The Holy Quran, 3: 26] He is the One who bestows dignity on people. You should seek dignity from God.
It is necessary to become familiar with the Holy Quran. It is necessary to have faith in the Holy Quran with all your heart. Superficial faith is not enough. It is necessary to believe in the Holy Quran and divine promises wholeheartedly. Today developing this faith is easier than it used to be. Today there are so many divine signs that faith has become easier because one can see the same thing that Prophet Ibrahim saw. "That my heart may be at ease." [The Holy Quran, 2: 260] One can easily develop this confidence. This is because the truth is in front of our eyes. What was Iran during the time of taghut when it was dependent on America and the usurping Zionists? But what has it become now? It has turned into a powerful pole of countering the arrogant powers and Zionism. These things are right in front of our eyes. This is the miracle of the Quranic call and the awareness that the Holy Quran has given us. We should preserve these things.
In particular I would like to ask those who are involved with the Quran to make more efforts to memorize Quranic verses. Of course memorizing the Holy Quran is just a means. It is not an end in itself. Memorizing the Holy Quran is a means, a means that will facilitate reciting the Holy Quran and will make it possible to reflect on it. The youth should utilize their talent and their memory. Encourage your children and youth to memorize the Holy Quran. Of course today is not comparable with the past. We have made a lot of progress, but this level of progress is not enough. They should go after memorizing the Holy Quran. When the Holy Quran is memorized, there will be more of an opportunity to reflect on it, and this reflection is the key. The key is to reflect on the Holy Quran.
In any case I would like to welcome all those who have attended these competitions. I hope Allah the Exalted will bestow His blessings on all of you out of respect for the Holy Quran, and I hope He will associate us with the Holy Quran in this world and in the hereafter.
Greetings be upon you and Allah's mercy and blessings

IR Leader receives Chamber of Commerce members
2011/07/12 - 18:33
Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei urged the authorities to provide the public with a genuine, hopeful assessment of the country's economic situation, adding such a hopeful assessment was a prerequisite to a successful economic jihad (the major economic drive of the current Iranian year).
Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a meeting with head and members of Iran and Tehran chambers of commerce Tuesday.
The IR Leader touched on the large drives accomplished by the nation in the past few years and urged the authorities to avoid any pessimistic assessment of the conditions on the ground.
Ayatollah Khamenei called the by-laws of the Constitutional Article 44 as a new railroad for the national economy which helped steer the economy through a right, precise direction.
The IR Leader said the chamber of commerce was required to identify business sector activists nationwide and to encourage the private sector to join business ventures. Ayatollah Khamenei also urged the economic activists who cooperate with the chamber of commerce to responsibly redefine and meet their role at the current conditions of the country.
The IR Leader touched on the enemy efforts to undermine the country through sanctions or other conspiracies, adding that the enemy aims to frustrate the public and cause the Islamic Revolution to fail however they could not defeat the popular, Divine movement of the Iranian nation.
"We are sure we will prevail against any such conspiracies as long as the hearts are full of hope and the people are making diligence," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

IR Leader receives researchers on Mahdism
IR Leader receives researchers on Mahdism
2011/07/09 - 11:01
Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei Saturday received a group of experts on Mahdism (faith in the eventual reappearance of the Savior of the World, Hazrat Mahdi Aj.)
At the meeting, the IR Leader highlighted the importance of Mahdism and described waiting for the re-appearance of Imam Mahdi (A.S.) as an integral part of the faith.
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that Mahdism is among the main religious teachings of Islam and that the main goal of mission of Divine Messengers was to establish a world based on monotheism and justice.
"The era of Imam Mahdi's (A.S.) re-appearance is the era of establishing genuine rule of monotheism, spirituality, religion and justice over different individual and social aspects of the life of human beings," the IR Leader said.
"If Mahdism did not exist, all efforts and struggles of Divine Messengers would have been fruitless and futile," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
Ayatollah Khamenei discussed the issue of Mahdism in divine religions and said: "While in all divine religions, some general points have been mentioned about the essence of Mahdism, in Islam this issue is among undeniable realities. And among Islamic denominations, Shia Islam discusses the issue of Mahdism with clear examples and details."
"Waiting here means expecting a living person and an indisputable truth, and in this sense waiting has certain requirements, including spiritual and social preparation for the expected era with its particular conditions," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
"The person who is waiting should always preserve and strengthen the characteristics that are necessary for the expected era and it is necessary to avoid considering this period of waiting as very long or very short," he added.
Ayatollah Khamenei warned that a large threat facing the issue of Mahdism is unscholarly, ignorant and undocumented activities based on fantasies and illusions, which might prepare the way for false claimants and might cause people to drift away from the genuine essence of waiting."
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the emergence of false claimants throughout history and added: "All these claims are wrong and misguided because certain things that have been said about the signs of re-appearance are invalid and weak, and it is not easy to apply the narrations that are valid."
"Such wrong and misguided things cause the main essence of Mahdism and waiting to be sidelined. Therefore, it is necessary to seriously avoid all unscholarly activities and rumors," the IR Leader reiterated.
"Of course, the responsibility for scholarly and well-documented work regarding the issue of Mahdism lies on the shoulders of experts who have extensive knowledge of Hadith and Rijal (knowledge of narrators of Hadith) and are perfectly familiar with philosophical issues and ideas," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Supreme Leader’s Speech to Members of IRGC
Supreme Leader’s Speech to Members of IRGC
08/07/2011
The following is the full text of the speech delivered on July 4, 2011 by Ayatollah Khamenei the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in a meeting with members of the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps.
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I would like to congratulate you dear members of this great revolutionary family on Revolutionary Guards' Day. I would also like to congratulate all believers on the Eids of the holy month of Rajab which remind us of great achievements and on the holy of month of Sha'ban which is the month of mercy, remembrance of God, dhikr and reliance on God.
The interesting idea to have a day for members of the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps and to relate this day to the auspicious birthday anniversary of Imam Hussein (a.s.) is a significant innovation which shows us the path. It is necessary to thank those who were the first to think of this idea and to make us notice this concept. This is because the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps has made an impressive promise to safeguard the Islamic Revolution. I will briefly speak about this issue later on.
The concept of guardianship was embodied by Imam Hussein (a.s.) with all its dimensions and with all the necessary and possible means. This is not to say that others did not do such a thing or did not want to do such a thing, rather it means that this movement was fully realized in the behavior of the Lord of the Martyrs (a.s.) during his ten-year imamate. One can clearly notice in his lifestyle all the methods that could have been used by a descendant of the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) to preserve the great legacy of Islam which has been passed down by the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) and his father as well as their genuine followers. We can clearly see everything in the lifestyle of the Lord of the Martyrs (a.s.) - everything ranging from clarification, to forewarning, to promotion of Islam, to provoking the conscience of prominent figures of his time during a sermon in Mina. All these things are tangible in the lifestyle of the Lord of the Martyrs (a.s.). Later on he stood up against a great deviation and laid down his life. Imam Hussein (a.s.) was aware of the consequences of his movement. He was an infallible Imam. Infallible Imams' extensive knowledge and insight are beyond our heads. Imam Hussein (a.s.) revolted to set a role model and he refused to surrender. He asked people to help him and when a group of people from Kufa expressed their willingness to accompany him on this path, Imam Hussein (a.s.) accepted their offer and moved towards Kufa and he did not give up in the middle of the way. Imam Hussein (a.s.) stood up against the deviated current of his time, which was extremely dangerous. And this became a lesson and Imam Hussein (a.s.) himself makes the same point. That is to say, he backed up his action with the order of Islam. He said that his duty was what he was doing. He said that he had to express his opposition, no matter what the consequences were. He said, "It is good if my destiny is a victory and if my destiny is martyrdom, so much the better." This was how Imam Hussein (a.s.) acted.
This was a perfect instance of self-sacrifice and it safeguarded Islam. This move preserved Islam. This move institutionalized values in society. If Imam Hussein (a.s.) had not accepted this danger, if he had not made a move, if he had not taken action, if his blood had not been shed, if those great tragedies had not happened to the shrine of the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.), to Imam Ali's (a.s.) daughter and to the Holy Prophet's (s.w.a.) descendents, this event would not have gone down in history. The event that could have prevented that great deviation had to shock people and history as much as the deviation did. This shows Imam Hussein's (a.s.) self-sacrifice.
Of course this is easier said than done. What Imam Hussein (a.s.) did was an extraordinary feat. That is to say, the dimensions of his action are far more than what we estimate. We usually ignore aspects and details. Once I spoke about Imam Hussein's (a.s.) patience. His patience was not limited to enduring thirst or seeing his companions being killed. These things are relatively easy to tolerate. The kind of patience that is difficult to practice is to listen to influential, aware and respectable people who keep creating doubts and telling you that what you are doing is dangerous and wrong. Who did those things? People like Abdullah Ja'far, Abdullah Zubair and Abdullah Abbas. These prominent figures of that time were constantly telling Imam Hussein (a.s.) not to do what he was doing. If it were somebody else, somebody who did not have that determination and stable character, he would have thought, "Well, I did my duty. These people are talking like this and the world is acting like that, so I should just say what I am supposed to say and do nothing else." A person who decides to stand up against such statements, such temptations, such doubts and such efforts to bend sharia and is not dissuaded from continuing his path - such a person is the one who can give rise to such a great transformation. In this regard our magnanimous Imam (r.a.) was similar to the Lord of the Martyrs. I explained this in another meeting and I do not want to go into the details now. This was how Imam Hussein (a.s.) acted as a guardian.
By selecting Imam Hussein's (a.s.) birthday anniversary as Revolutionary Guards' Day, the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps is in fact subtly suggesting that it will tread the path of Imam Hussein (a.s.). This is auspicious and truly important. Certain perceptive critics might say that a certain mistake has been made or a certain person has acted in the wrong way. It is possible to criticize all currents, all groups, all individuals and all legal and natural persons. But if we consider the movement of the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps in a fair way, we will see that the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps has kept its promise since the first day. The Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps has been truly steadfast on this path. Individual members come and go, but the collective identity of the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps has remained the same.
During my last meeting with the esteemed members of the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps, I raised an important point. I would like to discuss the point briefly. I said that the new generations of the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps should try to be a step ahead of the previous generations. That is to say, the world is moving forward. It is moving towards perfection. It is an evolutionary movement. Therefore, it is reasonable to expect a young member who has just entered the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps to push the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps one step forward in terms of knowledge, insight, awareness and selflessness and in terms of willingness to work and doing the job in an appropriate and timely way - these are the characteristics that the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps has demonstrated during these years. It is reasonable to expect the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps to improve in terms of quality after recruiting a new member. And this is possible. Do not say, "How is this possible?" No, it is perfectly possible. Just take a look at the conditions of those days: our enemies had imposed a war on us and they were present on our soil. Armed anti-revolutionaries were fighting us before and after the eight-year war had broken out. This was a strong motivating factor that encouraged even indifferent people to step into that extraordinary and lively arena. Today we are no longer fighting a war, but there is a war that is more subtle and of course more dangerous. Awareness of the depths of this war requires more capability and more vigilance. If we see certain people entering this arena, making efforts, fighting and staying in the arena with insight, then we can say that these people are not inferior to the war veterans in terms of motivation and performance. If their performance is better, we can say that they are even better than those veterans. The situation can be same in the future as well. It is necessary to focus one's efforts on this goal.
Today I will explain that the identity of the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps as the guardian of the Revolution should not be interpreted as conservative. Guardianship means preserving and safeguarding. In one analysis, this guardianship can be interpreted as conservative. That is to say, we can say the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps is responsible to preserve the current situation of the Revolution. I do not agree with this interpretation. Preserving and safeguarding the Revolution does not mean preserving its current situation. Why? Because the Revolution is by nature a progressive movement, and an accelerated movement at that. What is the direction? The Revolution is moving towards the goals that have been delineated. The goals will not change. The principles and values which we should insist on and for which we should lay down our life, are the kind of principles and values that have been specified in our goals. The ultimate goal is transcendence, perfection and closeness to God. A less important goal is self-education. A less important goal is to establish an Islamic society in which all the characteristics of an Islamic society are present, including justice, monotheism and spirituality. These are the goals. These goals cannot be changed. That is to say, we cannot afford to give up some of our goals. For instance, we should not say, "Alright, there was a day when we wanted to establish justice, but we realized that we cannot establish justice, so let us just settle for something that looks like justice." No, the goal is to establish justice. Monotheism and establishment of perfect sharia and justice - these are the goals and they cannot be changed. However, we can move towards these goals slowly or fast. The methods can be changed. Different measures may be adopted. The Revolution is moving in this direction. Preserving and safeguarding the Revolution means maintaining this progressive movement. This is the duty of the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps. If we adopt this perspective and interpret guardianship in this way, then the dynamism and enthusiasm that is embodied by the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps will be intensified.
Today's youth do not limit themselves to surface manifestations that exist in our society to a large extent. Rather, they pay attention to the depth and nature of things. These are what they pursue. Deep faith and further awareness: these are what we should look for. This is the appropriate interpretation of guardianship - guardianship of the revolutionary movement and progress.
If we want this to happen, there are two things that have to be done in the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps. One is the internal progress of the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps. That is to say, the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps should move towards perfection from within. The other requirement is external progress of the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps, which should be the driving force behind the Revolution and the Islamic Republic. These two dimensions should move forward hand in hand. If we ignore the first type of progress, we will fail to have the movement which will bring about progress and transcendence in the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps and the second kind of progress will be thwarted - that is to say, the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps will fail to act as the driving force behind the Revolution. Even if the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps makes certain efforts, the efforts will be in the wrong direction.
Therefore, we need two kinds of progress. Certain aspects of internal progress were mentioned by the honorable general of the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps. I confirm what the general said in this regard. All the things he spoke about should be done. This internal progress has a material aspect as well as a spiritual aspect. The spiritual aspect consists of paying attention to the values in the real sense of the word - namely, specifying the standards, safeguarding them and evaluating oneself and others on the basis of these standards with the purpose of progress towards the goals in an appropriate way. This is the spiritual aspect. And the material aspect is the good measures that are being adopted by the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps, the measures related to organization, science, research, development, military training and other such dimensions. All these things should be done together. Then the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps will turn into a dynamic and vibrant organization which will be immune to decline. Fortunately today the ground has been prepared for this. The infrastructures have been prepared. There is enough experience and motivation. This is internal progress. Such an organization can be the standard and a role model. Some of our people and youth may not join the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps, but they may choose this organization as their role model in life - the appropriate model for spirituality and prudence, the model for choosing the right method and making the right move in areas related to reconstruction.
When these things happen, it will be time for this internal progress to influence the movement of the Revolution and this is something that will happen automatically. When there is a lively, dynamic and progressive organization that is firmly committed to the principles and values of the Islamic Republic, when this organization moves forward and takes everything into consideration, when this organization has knowledge and insight and is influential, it will definitely play a determining role in pushing the Islamic Republic forward. Of course this is not particular to the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps. I would say the same thing about our Islamic seminaries and governmental organizations, but the importance of these organizations is not the same. Each of them has its own position. Now I would like to limit my discussion to the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps. We desperately need this constructive, progressive and evolving movement. More precisely, today Islam is in need of this movement.
The movement of the Islamic Republic has had its influence on the world. It has been highly significant. It has weakened the arrogant and satanic powers and it has opened up new paths in front of nations. A new chapter has begun in the history of the world. That is to say, one cannot find a parallel movement in history. Of course I have observed or studied the developments that have taken place in various parts of the world, especially in our own region. I have seen revolutions that took place in North Africa and Latin America as well as the leftist revolutions that happened during the 1960s. It is not the case that I do not know the historical background of these developments. No, I have seen these things. But what is happening today is unprecedented. These developments do not have a parallel. The events that happened in the 1960s - in Africa, in Latin America and in certain Asian countries - were often limited to one party or organization spreading its domination over the destiny of a nation with a material and Marxist orientation, a party or organization that lacked spirituality and divine elements. They used to call these developments "popular". But the popular aspect of these developments was that a party seized power and this was often done through a coup. The so-called revolutionary parities and governments that came to power in North Africa, including the governments of Gamal Abdel Nasser, Gaddafi and others - all of them seized power by staging a coup. These were not popular and revolutionary in the real sense of the word.
What is happening today is that people are present in the arena with their body and soul. They are ordinary people. Political parties may also be involved in one way or another, but those who are in the arena are not members of the military. They are not there to conduct a coup. They are ordinary people with a monotheistic and divine orientation, who shout "Allahu Akbar" and take part in congregational prayers. Let the American and Zionist propaganda machines deny this fact. They cannot change the truth by denying it. This is the truth. This is totally unprecedented. According to what I have seen, heard or studied, such widespread developments are totally unprecedented. What is happening is new. That is to say, a new page has been turned in the history of the region and, consequently, the world. A new chapter has begun. What was our role in this? I do not want to claim that the Islamic Revolution was the cause of these developments. And there are some people who are sensitive to the claim that the Islamic Revolution is the source of these uprisings. No, I do not want to make such a claim and it is not necessary to make such a claim. But today the same movement that the Iranian nation carried out about 32 years ago - except for certain regional, local, geographic and historical differences - can be noticed in several Muslim countries. And as I said, the next wave of this movement will happen in places far beyond the region and this will definitely happen. This is encouraging and promising for us. It shows that we should have more hope in the future.
Of course the enemies are working on this issue with all their power. They do not want this role model to be in front of Muslims' eyes. They do not want Muslim nations to see what position Iran has achieved. But this is something that has already happened, whether they like it or not. The scientific and technical work that is being done and the research that is being carried out by the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps and other organizations affiliated to the Armed Forces and the work that is being done outside the Armed Forces in our universities and different research centers - these are the things that specifically delineate future prospects. That is to say, they are the factors that will determine the future. It is these factors which determine to whom the future belongs. Of course this has been achieved due to Islam and the revolutionary spirit and it is necessary to strengthen this spirit. Therefore, this is how we should interpret guardianship of the Revolution. We should interpret it as a dynamic and progressive concept.
One of the things that we need to pay attention to in the arena of action is that we should take care not to let revolutionary organizations become involved with fruitless and possibly harmful activities during this progressive movement. One of these fruitless and harmful activities is the issue of internal disputes. Sometimes a current may stand up against the Revolution with the purpose of defeating it. In this situation it is everybody's duty to defend the Revolution. The Revolution defends itself like any other living creature. If a revolution is unable to defend itself during the time of sedition and different kinds of military, political and other coups, then that revolution is not alive. Our Revolution is alive, so it defends itself and it always wins, just as it did in the year 1388. Other times it is not a matter of trying to overthrow the government: it is simply a matter of differences of taste and opinion. It is necessary to decrease these differences as much as possible. Such things should be reduced as much as possible. It is harmful to fuel these differences of opinion.
One issue is that if a person says something that is wrong, should somebody respond to him? Yes, of course. Responding to a faulty statement should be done in a particular way. Sometimes when somebody makes a faulty statement, we may decide to shout his statement from the rooftops and tell everybody what he said. This is wrong. This is a mistake. I am not at all opposed to clarification by anybody or any organization. On the contrary, I support clarification and I believe in it. That is to say, clarification has been one of our essential strategies since the beginning. Clarification is necessary, but this does not mean that we should constantly fuel internal disputes. Be careful. Everybody should be careful in this regard. The Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps should be especially cautious. During political and intellectual movements and movements that are based on differences of taste, it is absolutely inappropriate to fuel disputes. Thankfully you are aware and you have insight. You are definitely aware of the developments and you know the conditions of the country. Unfortunately people are working against each other. And foreign organizations are extremely happy about this. They analyze these disputes. They say that there is discord among us. They are saying that we are finished. They constantly repeat their wishes. It is clear that this issue is because of our weakness. We should not let this weakness continue or increase. It is necessary to pay attention to this point. The movement should be dignified and logical. If certain people have differences of opinion, they should express their views in a logical way. As I said, I believe in clarification. During the revolutionary activities, I had the same problem with leftist and Marxist elements who were also involved in revolutionary activities. I used to highlight the importance of clarification, but they did not believe in clarification. They used to say something else. They had a different analysis. Basically the Revolution was based on clarification, logical reasoning and avoidance of uproar. Uproar will work against logical reasoning. It may succeed in attracting a few people, but a few other people who are more intelligent will be pushed away. This is what I believe.
The movement should be a progressive movement. There are a lot of requirements. I have written down some of these requirements. One of them is the need to form a unified front and this is related to the issue of unity which I discussed earlier. "Surely Allah loves those who fight in His way in ranks as if they were a firm and compact wall." [The Holy Quran, 61: 4] It is necessary to stand up against the enemy's invasion like a firm and impenetrable wall.
You dear youth who have joined the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps and you honorable clergy, religious scholars and active, faithful and young seminarians who represent the Leader in the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps - all of you should be aware of two things. One is that there is a lot things that you should do. Both the young members of the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps and the honorable clergy have a lot of things to do. Another issue is that you should know that if you make determined efforts, you can definitely do these things and after some time you will realize that you have made progress. That is to say, if you make determined efforts, progress is definite. If there is determined effort and hope, progress is definite and there is no doubt in this regard. All members of the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps should pay attention to this point. Of course preparing plans at the highest levels of the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps is something necessary that should be done all the time. These things are being done and they are good. I hope Allah the Exalted will help you. I hope Allah the Exalted will make you benefit from His blessings.
There is another point that I would like to raise because most of the high-ranking officials of the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps are present in this meeting. One of the essential things - which I highlight for General Jafari, the head of the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps - is to pay attention to the families of our martyrs. And the best kind of attention that they can give to these families is to visit them. Attention is not limited to material assistance. Many of these families do not even need such assistance. But all of them need compassion and empathy. Everybody wants to be treated in a compassionate way. Thankfully some of our proud martyrs are very famous and everybody knows them. And there are some other martyrs who are just famous among God's angels, but they are not very famous among us. You should pay attention to their families. And I hope our friends in the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps will have a unified and organized performance in this regard.
I hope Allah the Exalted will keep you safe and will make you benefit from the prayers of the Imam of the Age (may our souls be sacrificed for his sake). I hope the immaculate soul of our magnanimous Imam (r.a.) and the immaculate souls of our martyrs will be satisfied with all of us.
Greetings be upon you and Allah's mercy and blessings

Supreme Leader’s Speech to Government Officials on Mab’ath
Supreme Leader’s Speech to Government Officials on Mab’ath
08/07/2011
The following is the full text of the speech delivered on June 30, 2011 by Ayatollah Khamenei the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution. The speech was delivered in a meeting with Iran's government officials on the occasion of Mab'ath.
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I would like to congratulate the honorable audience, our esteemed government officials, the honorable ambassadors of Islamic countries, all dear Iranian people, the great Islamic Ummah and the entire humanity on this great Eid and this holy day.
If the importance of a particular day depends on whether or not Allah the Exalted has bestowed a blessing on humanity on that day, then Mab'ath is definitely the greatest and the most important day of the year. This is because sending down the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) for humanity was greater than all divine blessings throughout history. Therefore, one can say with certainty that Mab'ath is the best, the greatest and the most auspicious day of the year. We should commemorate the event that happened on Mab'ath, and we should visualize the greatness of that event.
The Commander of the Faithful (a.s.) said, "God sent the Prophet when the mission of other Prophets had stopped and the peoples were in slumber for a long time." Be'that happened at a time when humanity had been deprived of the presence of divine prophets for a long time. It was about 600 years after Jesus Christ. Humanity had not seen a divine messenger for hundreds of years. What was the result? "The minarets of guidance had disappeared and signs of destruction had appeared." The world was a dark place. Spirituality had left the world. Humanity was living in ignorance, deviation and arrogance. Allah the Exalted sent the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) in such a situation.
The Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) was the person who had been prepared by Allah the Exalted for such a great mission in the entire history of mankind. Therefore, the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) managed to start a movement in 23 years, and this movement has pushed human history forward in spite of all the problems. Twenty three years is a short time, and 13 years of it were spent in unfair battles. It started in Mecca with 5, 10, 50 people. Only a small number of people managed to resist under the unbearable pressure of prejudiced, blind and ignorant enemies of Islam. Firm foundations were built so that Islamic society and Islamic civilization could be based on them. Later on Allah the Exalted prepared the way for the immigration of the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) to Medina, and he managed to establish this Islamic system and this civilization in Medina. The Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) organized, built and managed this system in only ten years. It was a short time. Such events usually disappear in the flood of other important events, and they are usually forgotten. Ten years is a very short time. But the Holy Prophet managed to plant, water and nurture this sapling in that period of time. He managed to start a movement that led to a civilization, and this civilization stood at the peak of human civilization during a certain period. That is to say, during the 3rd and 4th centuries of the Hijri calendar, Islamic civilization was greater than all earlier civilizations. This is one of the miracles of Islam.
This was while different bitter events happened to the Islamic Ummah after the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) passed away. Problems, disagreements and internal conflicts emerged. In spite of all these things, in spite of the deviations that emerged over time, in spite of the impurities that appeared and grew, the Holy Prophet of Islam and the message of Be'that managed to give rise to that greatness in 3, 4 centuries, and the modern world and all civilizations of the modern world are indebted to Islamic civilization of the 3rd and 4th Hijri centuries.
If humanity considered the issue in a fair way, it would acknowledge that human beings' salvation and their movement towards perfection will be possible only through Islam. We Muslims were ungrateful. We were unappreciative. We failed to appreciate Islam. We failed to preserve the foundations that had been developed by the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) for prominent and advanced human societies. We were ungrateful, and we paid the price. Islam has the capacity to help humanity achieve prosperity and perfection. It has the capacity to help humanity achieve material and spiritual growth. The foundations that were established by the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) - faith, rationality, struggle and dignity - are the main foundations of an Islamic community.
We should strengthen our faith in our hearts and in our actions. We should utilize human wisdom, which is the great gift of God to humanity. We should engage in jihad in the way of God - in military, political, economic or other arenas. We should appreciate our Islamic and human sense of dignity.
When these things are revived in a society, that society will definitely follow the path of Islam and the path of the Holy Prophet of Islam (s.w.a.). Thanks to the message of Islam and thanks to the call of our magnanimous Imam, we Iranian people managed to practice part of these things in our life, and we can see the positive results.
Today the world of Islam has awakened. The movements that we see today in certain North African and Middle Eastern countries are the result of using the light of Islam and following the guidance of the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.). Therefore, by Allah's grace, the future of this region and these countries is bright.
The obstinacy of the westerners is futile. Their insistence on their wrong positions is futile. What we see today in Egypt, Tunisia and certain other countries tell us that a new chapter has begun in the history of this region. The wrong and oppressive balance that western arrogant and colonial powers established in this region 100-150 years ago and imposed it on the destiny of this great and strategic region, has been upset. A new chapter has begun.
Of course today western arrogant powers are resisting. They do not want to accept the great and undeniable fact that the regional nations have awakened. They do not want to accept that the regional nations have turned back to Islam. But this is a fact. The Islamic spirit has been revived in Muslim countries. The puppets of America and the west did something that these nations had no option but to rise up, start an impressive popular movement and carry out a revolution. Therefore, they started following this path. These movements will definitely achieve the desired outcome.
Of course westerners are making a lot of efforts. Today all propaganda, political and economic organizations of America and some of its mercenaries in the region are trying to derail these popular revolutions and these great uprisings. They are trying to hide and deny the Islamic aspect of these movements. They are trying to deceive the people and install individuals who would help them change all the equations in favor of the west again. They are trying to do these things, but their efforts are futile. Nations have awakened. When a nation awakens, when a nation enters the arena in a courageous way, it is not possible to dissuade or deceive it. We hope that the path of the Muslim nations that have revolted - and those nations that have the potential to revolt - will be continued and that this path will become as short as possible. The end result is certain although the path might be long or short.
Today the Americans are trying to derail these revolutions with the help of the Zionists and some of their allies and mercenaries in the region. They are trying to ride the waves of these revolutions, but their efforts are futile. Of course they create problems for nations. These problems are natural. They foment discord. We have experienced all these things. They fomented discord in our Revolution as well. They infiltrated our country. They pitched ethnic minorities against one another. They created domestic conflicts. They provoked a foreign enemy to deploy his military against us. All of these things happened, but the Iranian nation resisted. The Iranian nation continued its path in a powerful way. It overcame all these problems, and it will do so in the future as well. Therefore, these problems exist.
Today you see that they create internal disputes in Egypt and other places. They create conflicts. They will definitely arrange a chain of assassinations and seditions. The solution is to awaken the people and prominent figures - scientific and political figures and empathetic government officials who care about the destiny of their country. They should be vigilant. They should be careful, and by Allah's favor, the work will be continued in the best possible way. This is the manifestation of the continuation of the Holy Prophet's (s.w.a.) be'that and the prophetic movement.
Oppressed nations are after their dignity, the same dignity that was one of the pillars of the Holy Prophet's (s.w.a.) call to Islam. Enemies, arrogant powers, occupiers and interferers exploited Muslim nations for many years. They also humiliated Muslim nations. When a nation enjoys the blessing of Islam, it will be after dignity. This is the Islamic movement. This is what the Islamic movement means.
We Muslim nations should be vigilant. Prominent figures of Islamic countries should be vigilant. They should not keep themselves busy with pointless and unimportant disputes. They should not get involved in sectarian and ethnic disputes, differences of taste and side issues.
We Iranian people are happy to see that Muslim nations are after their freedom and dignity. Since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, the positions of the Revolution have been clear on regional issues, regional movements and regional uprisings. Wherever a movement is opposed to the arrogant powers, Zionism and the usurping Zionist regime, we support that movement. Wherever a movement is against America, against America's international dictatorship - against domestic dictators, wherever a movement seeks to claim national rights, we support that movement.
Everybody should be vigilant. We should be vigilant, and other nations should also be vigilant. They should know that the plots of the enemies are diverse and complex. We should consider insight as the criterion for our work. Nations should pay attention to the fact that the Americans, the Zionists and their allies and mercenaries are trying to derail the revolutions. They focus their attention on the countries that have awakened. They do whatever they can to derail the movement of these nations.
The oppressed Bahraini nation is like the Egyptian nation, the Tunisian nation and the Yemeni nation. They are all in the same situation. It is meaningless to distinguish between the movements of these nations. Unfortunately we see that instead of paying attention to what nations want, some people follow the path and make the move that the enemies of these nations want. Today in order to simulate what was done in Egypt, Tunisia, Yemen, Libya and other such countries, America has realized that it should create problems for Syria - which is moving on the path of resistance. The nature of the issue in Syria is different from the nature of the issue in these countries. In these countries, the movements were anti-America and anti-Zionism, but America is clearly involved in Syria. The Zionists are following up the issue. We should not make a mistake. We should not forget our standard. Wherever a movement is anti-America and anti-Zionism, that movement is a genuine and popular movement. Wherever the slogans are in favor of America and Zionism, the movement is misguided. We will preserve this logic and this insight.
Of course we know that the enemies of the Islamic Republic will get angry and will increase their machinations against us. We have resisted in the face of these machinations. Our nation has become experienced. The Iranian nation has resisted in the face of different kinds of machinations over the past 30 years. It has resisted and become experienced. They pin their hopes on certain events that happen in the country.
Fortunately different organizations are doing their duty with hope and enthusiasm today. You see how much work has been done in the country during the recent years. We used to import oil products, but we turned into a country that exports these products. Thankfully the country is active in different areas. The mutual attempt by the administration and the Majlis to downsize the government is a very important and great measure. These things should be followed up, and by Allah's favor, they will be.
By Allah's favor, the Iranian nation and government officials will manage to turn the hope of the enemies of the Iranian nation into despair through their resistance, unity, inexhaustible faith in divine assistance and cooperation.
I pray to Allah the Exalted to increase His blessings on this nation. By the blessedness of this holy day, this auspicious Eid and the soul of the Last Prophet (s.w.a.), I hope God will bestow His blessings and assistance on the Iranian nation and other Muslim nations. I hope He will make the holy heart of the Imam of the Age (may our souls be sacrificed for his sake) satisfied with us.
Greetings be upon you and Allah's mercy and blessings
