Two other Iranian classical works have been registered in UNESCO's List of the World Documentary Heritage, said director general of UNESCO's National Commission in Iran.

Talking to reporters, Mohammad Reza Saeedi added that the International Committee of the World Memory Program in a session held in Manchester approved registration of Persian language books 'Al-Tafhim' by Abu Reyhan Biruni and 'Khamseh' (five treasures) by Nezami Ganjavi in the List of World's Documentary Heritage.

Iran ranks fourth in Asia and Pacific by having five works registered, he said, noting that registration of the two works advanced Iran to the 14th position in the world in this respect.

'Al-Tafhim' was written in the fifth AH in Persian language in the field of mathematics and astronomy teaching. The book which contains some 530 questions and answers has so far been published in English, Italian, Russian, German and Tajik languages.

Written in 7th AH, Khamseh includes five long narrative poems and is considered one of the most famous romances in the world.
